As we begin the 2016-2017 school year I would like to take the time to introduce myself. My name is Merrill Friday and this will be my 12th year as a counselor at Pell City High School. After graduating from Pell City High School, I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Alabama in human environmental sciences. After working in retail after college, I decided it was time to further my education and enroll in a counseling program where my passion has always been. I earned an educational specialist degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and started my counseling career shortly after that. I am a national board certified counselor and have a private license in agency counseling as well. I look forward to working with each and every one of your students.
Large group and Classroom Guidance LessonsSome topics include: character education, study skills, career exploration, test anxiety, registration for the upcoming year. Topics may vary from year to year based on the needs of the students.

College and Career CounselingIt is never too early to begin thinking about life after high school. It is my goal to help students explore career options or find a college or university that will best fit their individual needs. Throughout high school a 4 year plan will be updated and career interest inventories will be administered to help students with these decisions.
